Nation's Garden - Akgöl Recreation Area

The traffic is heavy until you leave the city. When you turn right from the Kaynarca road, a road with rolling hills awaits you, passing through villages with the road reduced to one lane. Until it connects to the Karasu road, there are fountains along the Kaynarca Road as well as a place to stop in the style of village coffee. On the Karasu road, the road widens and reverts to a double lane. When you enter Ferizli, you continue on a road with shallow slopes passing through the villages. We reach Gölkent village and then Akgöl Recreation Area, which is our destination. It is a pleasant route intertwined with nature, where you can rest your legs after a hard training day and consider this to be a recovery ride. The route connects many areas of natural and geographical beauty. A one-day escape from the city: The chirping of birds, the scent of grass and the peaceful calm of Akgöl accompany you. Akgöl is a freshwater alluvial barrier lake between Karasu and Ferizli districts. It was formed by the effect of the alluvial deposits from the Sakarya river, which passes 2.5 km from the lake. Untouched nature offers breath-taking views and a cycling experience like no other. By the lake, densely packed reeds abound, and between them beautiful wooden boats, unpainted, now turning black from their long repose in the water. If before you, you espy trees rising from the banks, boats in the lake and beautiful clouds in the sky, there is nothing more to say. You can find several fish restaurants by the lake. A restful and pleasant break: have lunch on the grass, right by the lake. Speaking of food, the lake is very rich in fish. The most plentiful are the common rudd, bream, Redfin pickerel, Wels catfish and common carp. If you so choose, you can also create your own feast with the fish you catch from the lake. If you want to look at the lake from above and take some photos, you should go up the hill next to the church.
